I want the master in textmode but the nodes to run X

Enter 'knoppix 2' at the boot: prompt

Type 'knoppix 2' let it boot

You'll get something like this screen :-)

You will be presented with a nice handy root shell

Start the configuration

Type '/etc/init.d/knoppix-terminalopenmosixserver' in the root shell

Choose setup

Choose the networkcard which will be used to boot your clients.

Enter your client ip-range

Enter the ip address ranges for the cluster nodes

Choose the network modules for your clients

Deselect Textmode to boot your clients in X

Give extra options to your clients, see the knoppix cheatcodes

Enter any additional kernel options

You're now ready to start the server
